Details
A handsome round side table with a good deal of presence, combining a pale marble top with a richly worn timber base.
The circular top has a softly moulded edge and sits above a deep circular frieze. Below, a heavy turned baluster column is flanked by four slender turned spindles, rising from four boldly outswept shaped legs. Late 19th century.
The base retains its original dark finish, now beautifully worn back through to the timber in places, the kind of soft, uneven patina that can't be manufactured. The marble shows age-related staining and light marking across the surface, with minor wear to the edge.
Lovely proportions for a lamp table, sofa-side table, or entry piece. Sold in original unrestored condition.
