This is an attractive and well proportioned excellent quality Secretaire Book Case presented in recent professionally refurbished condition.
Superbly made by craftsmen in the earlier 1800s George III period from selected well figured and coloured prestigious imported Central American Honduran Mahogany.
The upper Display Cabinet or Book Case cabinet has a refined cornice and pediment above a pair of full width doors featuring featuring ten panes of glass separated by both upper and lower ogee shaped arched glazing bars. Within are three fully adjustable height full width shelves.
The lower cabinet is divided into two sections with the top section having a pull out sectetaire desk with a well fitted interior with banks of drawers with ivory knobs and an inset gold tooled leather writing surface. Below is the chest section with a bank of three full width graduated lined drawers each with brass keyhole escutcheons, brass locks and pairs of brass oval drawer pull handles. All drawers have perimeter cock bead moldings and the drop down secretaire drawer also has an inner raised beading. The lower molding of the upper cabinet matches the top edge molding of the lower cabinet.
Condition: Excellent as having been professionally refurbished in reasonably recent times by the current owner.
