This wheel thrown stoneware jug by Harold Hughan (1893-1987) carries no decoration other than a buff coloured glaze and the rib marks left by his fingers as he moulded it on the wheel. It stands 230 mm high and has a diameter at the base of 155 mm. At the base of the handle is Hughan's impressed rebus "HGI" for "Hughan Glen Iris", Glen Iris being the suburb of Melbourne where he lived and potted. The base is also signed Hughan.
