These amazing Australian made armchairs were originally the flat pack style chair, that was popular in the 40s & 50s. In 1947 he developed the ‘do it yourself’ Patterncraft furniture patterns, marketed by Australian Home Beautiful. Its affordability during the Depression contributed to its success and consolidated Ward’s reputation as Australia’s leading modernist designer.
The Fred Ward Patterncraft No.37 armchairs, constructed in quality Mountain Ash & Myrtle timber with original soft olive colour fabric.
Newly upholstered with new Vintage fabric (blue with red stitchwork design), new foams on seat and inside backs).
Designed in Australia in 1947.
Iconic sturdy chairs that also had a footstool option.
The frame is in excellent condition. The cushions have been replaced however original cushions are available also.
