Mid Century Modern Teak Sideboard Macrob, Australia, circa 1960s
Macrob was an Australian furniture manufacturer producing solidly built mid century pieces during the postwar boom years, when local makers were interpreting the Scandinavian teak aesthetic for Australian homes. This sideboard is a strong example of that era: bookmatched teak veneers on the doors form a striking diamond pattern that makes the grain the centrepiece of the design, framed by clean lines and sitting on turned legs with castors.
The piece has been fully restored. The teak surfaces have been cleaned back and refinished to bring out the warmth and depth of the grain, and the interior reveals removable shelves that make it genuinely useful — equally suited to a dining room, living room or as dedicated vinyl storage.
The four central drawers are flanked by two cabinet doors on each side, giving a generous mix of open and closed storage across a comfortable length.
