Rare 1950s WEMBLEY WARE | Set of 6 Harlequin Lustreware Dessert, Parfait, or Sundae Bowls | Excellent Vintage Condition | Made in Australia

This brilliant set of six harlequin lustreware dessert, parfait, or Sundae bowls produced by Wembley Ware in Subiaco, Western Australia, are a fabulous example of Australian post-war homewares at their finest.

Each footed bowl is in the shape of a six-petal open flower. The colours are bright, iridescent, and shimmering, and both the flower edges and the rim of the base are gilded.

Apart from two very small fleabites/chips there are no other chips, cracks, repairs, or — importantly — no signs of crazing. Likewise, there is no staining or discolouration.

The base of each bowl is stamped 'Wembley Quality Ware'. The 'Wembley Ware' name was used between 1946 and 1961 for ceramic homewares produced in Perth, Western Australia, by Bristile (H.L.Brisbane and Wunderlich Ltd).

This hard-to-find set is highly decorative and totally functional, as well as representing a piece of Australian post-war social history.

It's remarkable to find a complete set of six in such exceptional condition!
