The Sanyu Glass Co are one of Japan's most recognised manufacturers of mid-century glass. They produced a large amount of beautiful pieces which were predominantly bound for the Western export market.
The company began producing glass in the early 1950s, becoming more prolific in the 1960s and 1970s. They produced a range of vases, centrepieces and art pieces.
This particular bowl is a striking orange glass and is in the ‘lip’ shape because the bowl has the shape of lips when viewed from above.
The bowl is 33cm long, 15.5cm wide and 13cm tall at the highest point. The bowl is in excellent vintage condition. There is one small bubble (pictured) which was part of the production process.
