Hornsea Pottery England ‘Saffron’ designed large jug by John Clappison

Hornsea ‘Saffron’ was a popular range from Hornsea designed by John Clappison.

Introduced three years after Heirloom, in 1970, it had the perfect colourway for the decade of orange and dusky brown.

Look carefully at the design and you will see it is made up of a myriad of tiny daisies. This large jug stands 12cm tall. It is dated 1976 on the base.

There is a chip to the underside of the jug (as pictured), which can barely be seen when the jug is upright. There is a slight amount of crazing to the interior.
