An 18kt yellow gold, black enamel, and seed pearl mourning ring dating to 1817. The piece centres on a piece of likely Essex crystal which sits atop of the letters 'WF' cut from gold. Surrounding this crystal is halo of seed pearls set in a bed of black and white enamel. The beauty of this piece is that the ring is entirely as it was manufactured 200 years ago, with the shank unaltered, evidenced by the uninterrupted patterns on the piece. An absolutely stunning piece of Georgian era jewellery in exceptional condition.
Housed in a sympathetic period box, however not original to the piece.
Engraving on the inside rear of the cartouche reads - 'Willm Flascman Esq died 12 December 1817 Aged 65' - (Willm short for William)
