Details
This is a lithograph produced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art for their 1978 exhibition Monet's Years at Giverny: Beyond Impressionism, featuring The Four Trees (1891) from Monet's Poplars series.
The exhibition, organised by the Met in association with the St Louis Art Museum, focused on Monet's final decades at Giverny and became one of the museum's most attended shows of the period. The Four Trees depicts poplars along the Epte River, painted from a boat Monet had specially fitted with grooves to hold multiple canvases at once, part of a series he began after paying a local timber merchant to keep the trees standing long enough to finish the work. The painting has been held in the Met's permanent collection since 1929.
This is a period printed poster from the original 1978 run, in excellent condition and flat, with no fold lines, foxing or fading.
