Hand-poured transparent dichroic mirror by Cordon Salon, realised in floating specialty glass with a puddle-form profile. Constructed with a wooden backing for wall mounting.
These mirrors draw on a specialised artisanal practice dating back centuries. Developed with producing partners, the series reflects the studio’s commitment to extending traditional craft practices into a contemporary design context.
Cordon Salon is a studio founded in 2018 that uses research, collaboration and experimentation to explore alternative approaches to contemporary art, craft and design. Working across collectable furniture and object design, the practice often focuses on overlooked, forgotten or ubiquitous processes and materials, reimagined and shown in a different light.
The studio has developed work for local and international clientele and exhibited across Melbourne Design Week, Melbourne Design Fair, Sydney Design Week and Craft Contemporary. Exhibitions include Sophie Gannon Gallery, Oigall Projects, Craft Victoria, and The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia as part of Melbourne Now.
