This piece has been restored in a large dedicated workshop to a superior finish using a third party professional restoration service. The professional restorer is highly respected in the business who is meticulous and takes pride in his work.
The process involves removing the original finish on the exterior, then treating any marks or blemishes and refinishing with a satin finish catalyzed protective lacquer. Colour matching of the surfaces is done during the finishing process and any lighter or darker patches are appropriately lightened or darkened to leave a more consistent color. So any sun faded patches disappear and extension leaves on tables are colour matched.
The new finish is superior to many you will see advertised and is considered both scratch and water resistant in comparison with the majority of other finishes. This means maintenance of the table is very low effort and will be well preserved into the future.
