Set of 8 Antique French Dining Chairs....SOLD.

These are a set of eight genuine high quality antique French (later 1800s) Dining Chairs in the Louis XV manner. The ‘show timber’ frames are most superior to most and are very well crafted from solid French Oak, have hand caned back panels and are superbly embellished with fine and profuse raised carving to the chair frames. The show timber frames are typical Louis XV with their serpentine shaped seat rails, cabriole legs, scrolled toes plus ‘S’ and ‘C’ shaped decorative scrolling.

The chairs are very solid however a few have very minor damage to the cane back panels ( which we can have re caned if required) however we would recommend that the seats not only be recovered but reupholstered for greater comfort which we can also organise if required. The size of the seats is very generous.

Condition: Frames excellent - Caning overall very good - Upholstery average / poor.

Sellers Observation: The amount and combination of exquisitely fine and bold carving on these impressive chair frames shows the superb quality and combined kill of the craftsmen ( Chair makers, Wood Carvers Polishers and Caners ) who made them and these chairs would have been very expensive when first made and cost thousands each to reproduce today.
