A handsome pair of early 20th century carved timber chairs sourced from Denmark, featuring decorative crest rails with a classic shell and foliate motif inspired by French revival furniture. The chairs have elegant carved backs, turned front legs and square block corners to the seat rails, giving them a strong architectural feel while still retaining decorative detail. The frames are finished in a warm timber tone that highlights the carving and grain. At some stage in their life the chairs have been reupholstered in black vinyl with stud detailing, likely during the mid to late 20th century, providing a comfortable seat and a nice contrast against the timber frames. Solid, well made pieces that work beautifully as occasional chairs, at a desk, in a hallway, or mixed around a dining table. Sold as a pair.
