Set of four genuine antique English William IV dining chairs, circa 1835, handmade by craftsmen in imported Central American rosewood from Brazil. The show timber frames illustrate the transition from rail backs to shaped kidney backs. The top rail and uprights are reeded, while the lower waist rail is embellished with finely carved apposed foliate scrolls.
Seat rails are well profiled—serpentine along the sides and bowed at the front. Front legs are turned, elegantly tapered, and reeded.
Upholstered in red and green French woven horsehair with a brass-studded finish.
Condition: Excellent. Frames are solid and retain their original polish. Seats are webbed and padded with hand-rolled and stitched edges. Upholstery is also in excellent condition.
