Tibergaard teak desk made in Denmark and dates back to the 1960s. A stylish and extremely well made vintage desk made by Tibergaard.
It is a great size with lots of lovely features. It comes with lots of features such as seven drawers at the front and a cupboard at the back. The back is nicely finished, and the desk can be used as a free-standing item in the centre of the room. The cupboard at the back can be used as a minibar with a small glass shelf and mirrored interior.
The desk comes with a beautiful lock that works on the drawers at the front and the cupboard at the back.
Tibergaard was born in 1920 in Brædstrup, he was trained as a joiner and had only worked as a joiner. From 1948 he was employed as a machine joiner at Ikast Møbelfabrik (Ikast Furniture).
In September 1951, Gunnar Tibergaard Nielsen was employed as operations manager at Ikast Møbelfabrik. In the job he now took over, in addition to production, he also had to handle design, sales and bookkeeping despite the fact that he had neither training nor experience in these areas. When Tibergaard started his new role, Ikast Møbelfabrik was struggling financially.
He got control of the production, designed a completely new product range and cultivated the export markets. In addition, he learned about bookkeeping.
The product range he designed, with its simple lines and functional design, was completely in the spirit of the times.
The turn-around that Tibergaard carried out meant that the results were positive from 1952. In 1958 there were approx. 25 employees.
Ikast Møbelfabrik participated every year at the furniture fair in Fredericia and after participating in the international furniture fair in Cologne in 1958 they started their exports. They exported to 19 countries, with West Germany as the largest.
At the beginning of the 1960s there was a rapid development with increased turnover there was now 45 employees.
