This good quality brass bound campaign decanter box is made of oak, which has been stained a reddish colour. The walls of the piece are 14 mm thick, which is a touch over half an inch, and it carries a good quality Bramah lock. The box stands 286 mm (11.25 inches) high, is 245 mm (9 5/8ths of an inch) wide and 143 mm (5 5/8ths inches) deep. The interior is lined with a dark blue velvet. The decanters are replacements and are in very good condition, with only some very small chips to the bases to detract from them. There is also a bruise to the bottom of one of the stoppers. With the decanters in place it weighs just under 7 kilograms (15.5 pounds). C 1800.

All pieces were cleverly and robustly made to withstand the rigours of travel to places where the roads, if they even existed, were not for the faint hearted.
