An antique Chesterfield recovered in Hong Kong approximately forty years ago by an Australian family, bringing together traditional English form and late twentieth-century expatriate taste. The deep buttoning, rolled arms and sculpted serpentine front retain the character of the original frame while introducing a softer, more fluid silhouette than is typically associated with Chesterfield seating. The blue crushed velvet recovery reflects a more decorative approach to luxury embraced throughout Asia during the period, shifting the piece from formal to distinctly individual.
