This is a very good quality and in excellent condition genuine antique English early Victorian ( 1840s ) bow fronted Chest of Drawers.
Hand made and finished in lovely mid ‘honey’ coloured prestigious imported Central American Mahogany of excellent figuring.
Bow fronted Chest of Drawers were made less frequently due to the higher degree of cabinetmaking and time taken in making a curved bow front as against an easier straight front and as such many people rate them higher and consider them more desirable.
The Chest has a ‘secret’ flush fitting full width top drawer which looks like it is just the freeze section. Below are two side by side drawers with three further full width graduated drawers beneath. These drawer are all finely cock beaded and have very well turned drawer pull knobs. The whole stands upon tall turned and tapered feet.
