19th-century French display/side cabinet in the manner of André-Charles Boulle (1642–1732). Upright rectangular form with a single glass-panelled door opening to an interior lined in watermark fabric with two full-width shelves.
Ebonised black lacquer casework is articulated by multiple horizontal bands of gilt bronze mouldings of varying sizes and motifs across the frieze and base. Flanking the door, vertical panels display intricate brass inlay set into turtle shell, capped by bold female figurehead bronze mounts at the top and smaller inverted foliate mounts at the base. The door carries a wide perimeter band of fine brass inlay patterns, with shaped top corner brackets that give the glazing its distinctive profile. The ebonised base and cabinet sides also feature fine line brass inlays and applied gilt bronze decorative mounts.
Condition: Overall excellent, complete, with the inlays sitting flat.
