This knockout diamond set clip brooch was made in France during the Art Deco period. The handmade platinum brooch is set entirely with semi-modern brilliant cut, baguette cut and a single princess cut diamond. Each of these diamonds are graded as being of G/H colour and VS-SI clarity totalling 88 pieces and 4.75 carat. The brooch features a wonderful scrolling ribbon type design and we date its manufacture to circa 1935, the tail end of the Art Deco era. Originally this pin would have been one of a pair, which would have attached to a frame to allow it to be worn as a larger brooch. Unfortunately the frame and the second brooch have been lost to time, but this single clip remains and is an exquisite example of Art Deco jewellery. To the hinged double pin at the rear the piece features a rubbed French hallmark, likely a platinum purity stamp, however it tells us the piece was made in France. The clip could be worn on the handkerchief pocket on a man's tuxedo or clipped to the neckline of a lady's gown with such ease.
