Brooch-pendant in the form of a female bust, crafted in 18 karat yellow gold with carved pink coral, emeralds and natural cultured pearls.
The face, hair and head are carved from a single piece of pink coral and surmounted by a gold crown set with emeralds and a pearl. The head is detailed with gold drop earrings set with natural cultured pearls. The finely engraved gold torso is set with six baguette-cut emeralds and a pear-shaped emerald, all rubover-set. Drilled natural cultured pearls to each shoulder form epaulettes.
Reverse with a hinged twin-pin brooch fitting, secure and functional, and a later-added gold bale for wear as a pendant. Possibly designed to reference Queen Mary, who was a notable jewel collector.
Marked: engraved '750' for gold purity.
Condition: Overall in good condition. A slight bleed of solder is present where the bale was added; this is to the rear and not visible from the front.
