Details

The history of glassmaking in Murano dates back to 1291 when the Venetian government ordered the glassmakers of Venice to relocate to the island of Murano as a precautionary measure to avert a huge fire.

From there on, the small island emerged as one of the most prominent centres of glassmaking in the world using a glassblowing process that is over 1000 years old, making it world famous for its unparalleled quality, exquisite range of colours, and not to forget the unsurpassed craftsmanship.

This bowl is a lovely amethyst colour and is made in the ‘bullicante’ style, which in Italian literally means "full of bubbles", meaning that the artist created inside the layers of glass a decoration made of small bubbles of air.

This bowl measures 19cm across and is in great condition.
