Details
Two-tier Componibili storage unit designed by Italian architect and industrial designer Anna Castelli Ferrieri for Kartell. Produced in ABS plastic, the modular elements are stackable and conceived for adaptable use across the home.
Ferrieri studied architecture at Milan Polytechnic and, in 1943, married Giulio Castelli, a chemical engineer who founded Kartell in 1949 to produce high-quality plastic design. From 1946 to 1947 she was editor of Casabella Costruzioni and established her own practice, collaborating with Ignazio Gardella on projects in Milan, Turin and Genoa. She designed the Kartell headquarters in Binasco and buildings for Alfa Romeo in Arese. From 1965 she designed objects for Kartell and other Italian manufacturers, experimenting with plastics and developing innovative forms, including the Componibili system, first introduced in 1967.
