A large molded, opalescent glass centerpiece with a border design resembling ram horns, circa 1927-1930. The inside of the bowl is polished while the outside has been given a matte sand-blasted finish.
Born in 1901, Pierre d'Avesn began his career at 14 years old working for Rene Lalique. He would stay with Lalique for the next ten years. During this period, he designed Lalique's famous Serpent vase as well as the Tourbillons vase, two of the most highly-priced and extremely collectible pieces by Lalique. In 1926, he left René Lalique and created his own models with pieces made by Cristallerie de Saint-Rémy. In 1930, Daum Freres asked him to take the artistic direction of their molded glass department in their glassworks in Croismare where he would stay until 1936.
