Details

An original and quality, genuine antique French gilt patinated bronze figure group of two young girls upon a malachite base. Named "un secret" the work is signed; par Hip Moreau, Medaille au Salon.

Hippolyte François Moreau 1832-1927 was also known as Hip Moreau and was the son of the renowned sculptor Jean Moreau and established a reputation for his exquisite cast Bronze statuettes of young girls.

Hip studied in Paris under Francois Jeffroy at the Encole Nationale Superieure des Beux Arts.

He exhibited mainly at the Salon of French Artists from 1863 onwards and won medals in 1878 and 1890

Many of his works today are on permanent exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Dijon France.
