This is a high quality most attractive and practical antique French 19th century stool. The hinged lid has a comfortable upholstered top of serpentine form and tapestry upholstery. When the lid is raised it reveals a lined hidden storage compartment.
The stools ‘show timber’ framed base is slightly serpentined and is crafted from superb prestigious Rosewood of excellent colour and figuring. The design influences and decorative carved embellishments are in the French 18th century Louis XV manner with typical ‘C’ and ‘S’ scroll carved embellishments, shell motifs, serpentine apron and cabriole legs.
