Its seat shell is cut through and reassembled, with die-cast aluminium armrests becoming the link between seat and back, so a classic shell form gains openings and visual lightness. Wilkhahn furnished the New York Stock Exchange’s historic meeting rooms with it.

Comfort comes from the construction rather than a mechanism: a three-point support with a rear spring strut gives a sprung feel that also flexes at the sides. This is the 301/5 medium-back version in tan leather, with polished aluminium arms and a four-star swivel base on castors.

Condition
Pre-owned. The leather is in good condition with light creasing from use. The polished aluminium armrests show scratches and scuffs on the top surfaces. See photos.
