Richmond (1889-1965) was both a fine and commercial artist. His paintings were exhibited throughout Europe, and he worked for the Canadian government during World War I as a battlefield artist. His graphic work was primarily for the British Railway Company in the 1920s and 30s, producing posters for the London Underground. Examples of his posters promoting train travel, as well as various travel destinations in Britain and Europe, are in the London Transport Museum and the National Railway Museum (London).
