Of French origin, dariole is the name given to a mould used to bake desserts, and the name eventually was also applied to the desserts themselves. Traditionally the dessert is of puff pastry filled with an egg custard, but there can be variations. The height is 45 mm (1.75 inches) and the diameter across the top is 50 mm (2 inches). There are no makers marks, but each is stamped with the number 3 to the base.
