After an initial period focused on animal figurines, Tilgmans hired Polish‑born Antoni Marian Zawadzki to broaden the studio’s output. Zawadzki introduced lamps, vases and tabletops—often using the sgraffito technique (Italian for “to scratch”)—and remained with the company until 1970, when he left to establish his own studio. He died in 1978 at age 66.

The floor lamp has been rewired to comply with Australian electrical standards; no other alterations have been made, to preserve the history of this piece.
