The baluster shaped vase with a flared rim has been glazed with an iridescent soft purple glaze which has a slightly mottled appearance. Stamped to the underside for manufacture by Ruskin along with the date mark for 1910, the piece dates to the middle of the Edwardian period. The vase presents in very good condition overall with no chips or cracks and only minor wear to the surface of the glaze commensurate with age and use. Manufactured near Birmingham, Ruskin Pottery is a perfect example of Arts \u0026amp; Crafts period design, with the pieces designed by Edward R. Taylor and his son William Howson Taylor. Remarkably after Ruskin was closed in the 1930s, William Howson Taylor destroyed his glaze records so that pieces could not be replicated.
