The history of glassmaking in Murano dates back to 1291 when the Venetian government ordered the glassmakers of Venice to relocate to the island of Murano as a precautionary measure to avert a huge fire. From there on, the small island emerged as one of the most prominent centres of glassmaking in the world using a glassblowing process that is over 1000 years old, making it world famous for its unparalleled quality, exquisite range of colours, and not to forget the unsurpassed craftsmanship.
This wonderful vintage Murano vases comes from the Fratelli Toso studio. It features beautiful white milky glass with colourful accents, in a thin layer of clear transparent glass. The vase has a nicely fluted rim, while the combination of clear glass on the outside and milky glass on the inside is also clearly visible. It gives this vase a wonderful and elegant presence.
The vase is 19cm tall and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
