The exterior provides nine drawers across the twin pedestals and centre, giving the desk an impressive amount of storage.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Cutler name is particularly associated with American roll-top desks. Abner Cutler of Buffalo, New York, patented an influential flexible slat roll top desk design in the 1880s, and Cutler desks became well-known pieces of American office furniture.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOf particular interest is the original plaque mounted to the front of the desk, reading “Arthur E. Stitchbury \u0026amp; Coy. Ltd., Office Furniture Specialists, Sydney.” Arthur E. Stitchbury \u0026amp; Co. were the Australian importer and supplier of this desk, dating it to approximately 1920–1930.
